All events have been cancelled. Gabriela is out
of the country.
Dear friends,
I love to entertain almost as much as I love to cook! Or
maybe I love to cook almost as much as I love to entertain!
Whichever it may be, fact is, those are my greatest passions,
and have always been vital part of my life.
In Brazil, I even
turned that into a business, running some of the best nightclubs
in Rio for many years.
When we moved to
Carmel, seven years ago, I quickly started making a new group of
friends and entertaining them with dinner parties, as I did back
home.
To top it off, I
make friends at the drop of a hat, I'd say even before it has
hit the floor :-) (I LOOOVE people). So the dinner parties were
getting bigger, and more and more frequent.
Now, if you are
wondering why I do all of this work (each menu takes me weeks on
planning, then literally days on shopping, prepping and cooking,
not to mention serving and cleaning up), I'll tell you:
First and foremost, it is because I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it with ALL
of my heart!!!! Second, my husband and friends have finally
persuaded me to start writing a book. Even though I firmly
believe the market is inundated with cookbooks, they have
finally convinced me to add my two cents to the mix. And all of
you, my friends, are now my "recipe test lab". I can test out
what goes in the book, and what doesn't, during our dinners.
A new friend has
sent me a fantastic card with a Harriet Van Thorne quote that
read:
"Cooking is like love-it should be entered into with abandon, or
not at all"
Agreed! And BOWED!
I really hope you
will all be a part of this adventure with us! This adventure
that is only beginning, as our plans for Gabriela's Feast are
incredibly grand. Get ready for an unforgettable culinary ride
and stay tuned to our news and surprises, which will be many.

Gabriela’s
Feast
- 2007 Calendar of Events
We are taking a
long break on dinner parties, as I am off to Brazil and France
for a few months, giving classes and searching the world for
gastronomic novelties, which we will certainly share with all of
you, our dear friends, when we come back. Necessary recycling
times. :-)
Also, taking that
time off to work on my book, and organize a lot of the info we
collected up to now, as with all the work and trips, I haven't
really had time to do so.
Stay well while
we are away, and behave but not too much! :-)
Remember,
"Well Behaved
women rarely make history"

"Wit is the salt
of conversation, not the food"
AND

deserve Champagne. In defeat you need it " Napoleon Bonaparte
Saude and See you
soon!
Love you all to
pieces!
Gabriela
As
I am in Brazil on a resting, but, as usual, very Gourmet
trip and I keep getting a lot of questions about our favorite
places, I will list some of them here to make everyone's life`
easier. here are my picks in Sao Paulo. i will post other cities
soon.
D.O.M Restaurante-
This s the restaurant of a very dear feriend and phenomenal
chef, Alex Atala, who worked with Ferran Adria in Spain. D.O.M
was just voted by the most respected channels in the world as
the 50th best restaurant on the planet. Latin America was never
even mentioned before on a position like that. It is a must,
trust me. Feel free to tell Alex yo aremy friend and the
hostess, Mariana, is one of the sweetest girls on the planet. As
it is a very hard place to get a reservation, you will be glad
we all know each other :)

Hanadoki-
it belongs to a great and very, very dear italian handsome
friend, Franco Sabattini and the grill chef, Cida, is about one
of the most loving woman on the planet. tell them you are our
friends and you will be treated like you are part of the family.
He has fantastically exotic Brazilian fishes on his dishes and
Cida makes grilled giant prawns and grilled giant scallops in
their shells that are worth writing home about.

Jun Sakamoto-
You all know I love Nobu, but Jun to me is tied with him, if not
better. Hard to get a reservation, as it is a very small private
little restaurant, but if you get to talk to him, I am sure he
will find a spot as soon as he can. Please be patient, as I said
it is very small and private, but worth it. His mixing of
japanese with foie gras is to enjoy on your knees.
Fasano
Gorgeous place inside Hotel Fasano, by far the best boutique
hotel in SP.The maitre, Almir, is fantastic. Try him if a
reservation is getting too hard to come across.

Alucci Alucci
Hip, fantastically delicious place. Delicious food with a
phenomenal ambience (sit outside in the romantic hip dark
varanda if you can) and a dream DJ (yes, he sells his cds mixed
and I can never resist them). The chef Edir Nascimento is
fantastic and lovely, lovely, lovely. Make sure to try and talk
to her.
